In contrast to treatment, it should be noted that
that counseling in a psychological context is aimed exclusively at healthy individuals and focuses on coping with life crises, social stress, and personal growth . The common goal of all counselors is to offer their clients support in temporary challenges or decision-making situations, to find solutions, and to strengthen areas of personal development .

Treatment, on the other hand, is aimed at people with mental illnesses that are considered to be pathological.

In addition to the common goal of all therapists to regain the mental health of their clients and to alleviate symptoms and suffering of those affected , there are nevertheless differences in treatment responsibilities .
